What is this?

Folia for Eczema is an ongoing, observational research program dedicated to understanding symptoms, relief mechanisms, and care effectiveness for those with eczema. Our hope is that information directly tracked by Folia users can be used by researchers looking to improve the way they evaluate eczema treatments.

Folia believes research should be completely centered around patient input - from design to data collection. We collaborate with other Folia users who have eczema to make sure data tracked in the app is not only useful for research, but also useful for YOU!

Who can participate?

While anyone can download and use Folia for themselves, this specific research study is looking for:

  • Adults age 18 and older with an eczema diagnosis

  • Caregivers for minors with eczema diagnoses (caregivers must be age 18+)

  • Current U.S. residents

  • Able to read and understand the English language

If you don’t meet these requirements - don’t worry! We’re working tirelessly to design more Folia Research Programs just like this one.

How does this work?

To start, you’ll participate in a one month guided tracking experience to better assess your eczema flares.

For one month, you’ll:

  • Spend a few minutes per week logging symptoms & treatments in the Folia app

  • Complete a start of month and end of month survey 

  • Provide documentation of your diagnosis to the study team

  • Receive $50 of payment

After one month, you’ll:

  • Continue to use your Folia app as you wish

  • Have a chance to continue to contribute your observations to additional research questions in the future

  • Get access to the same research perks listed above

What happens after the first month?

The initial study period consists of one month of tracking, but you can continue to use the Folia app and use it to understand how your skin is responding to different therapies and strategies - it’s built for you. Your data related to eczema may be used to look at additional research questions beyond the first month of tracking, unless you opt out of data sharing, which you can do at any time.

As you track your symptoms and treatments, the Folia app will aggregate your data into trends and graphs to help you better understand triggers, flares, and the effectiveness of your treatments.
